INPATIENT CARE

Dr Ratnayake has admitting rights to St Vincent’s Hospital (SVH), Toowoomba and St Andrew’s Toowoomba Hospital (SATH) if your require inpatient care.

OUTPATIENT CONSULTATION

Outpatients are reviewed at Specialist Medicine Toowoomba Rooms. A current GP referral is required for Specialist review.  

An electric tracing (Electrocardiogram) of your heart is important if you have a chest complaint; especially if chest pain or palpitations (heavy, fast or irregular heart beat) occurs.

ECG OR ELECTROCARDIOGRAPHY 

An ECG or a 'heart tracing' may be performed as part of doctor's assessment in the rooms or on referral from another doctor. 

Spirometry is used as a basic test in Doctor’s rooms if you are likely to have breathing problems due to Asthma or smoking related lung disease. Measurements of lung function are made as you breathe out into a machine.

EXERCISE TESTING

Exercise tests are performed to assess chest pain, palpitations, dizziness other effort- associated symptoms and also to assess fitness (general or work). 

EXERCISE TEST (EXERCISE ECG)

Exercise tests are performed for multiple reasons including assessment of chest pain, palpitations, breathlessness and fitness for work and driving in some circumstances.

HOLTER MONITORING

When palpitations, dizziness fainting and loss of consciousness occur, heart rhythm needs to be investigated, preferably, in one’s usual environment. 

Blood pressure changes due to circumstances. Some patients’ blood pressure increased when visiting the Doctor (White coat hypertension). 

TILT TABLE TEST (HEAD UP TILT TABLE TEST)

Fainting and dizziness, palpitations occur due to multiple reasons. It is important to rule out heart or brain disorders as the cause.
